Optimised for the separation and retention of cells in perfusion cell culture processes, the Biosep Acoustic Separator product line has been established and marketed with  Applikon Biotechnology.

Three standard separators are currently available:  the 10L BioSep, the 50L BioSep, and the 200L BioSep. Another two models, the 1L Biosep and the 1000L Biosep are available on a project basis to extend the range of separation capacity from 0 to 1000L/day,.

The nominal capacities are given by the maximum harvest flow rate at which an acceptable separation efficiency can still be reached. For example, the 10L system has a nominal capacity of 10 liters per day. All models have been characterized for separation efficiency at a large range of flow rates and cell densities.  

Ultrasonic power to all models is provided by MHz-range patented multilayer piezoelectric transducers and electronic controllers developed by Sonosep.
